Hippopotamus has suffered some decline in numbers, in part due to poaching.  The hippo as large tusk-like teeth, valued for their ivory, and the meat is regarded as a delicacy.  It is still a formidable prey, on land or in the water.  The Hippo is Africa’s most dangerous large Mammal; despite its mass and short legs, it is surprisingly quick.
