Among the Trees

In 2004, I took the picture of the bull elephant.

I am sure he saw us, but was not concerned; he approached within 25 yards, only interested in some green foliage.

He had probably been in Ngorongoro for most of his 50 years and had learned that humans there posed no threat. Maybe to him, we were just rather larger vervet monkeys who rode on noisy animals that crawled on round legs. We usually just stood and pointed out with our front legs.
